RAMZ TEAM

The meeting of Morvary Samaré and Astrid Schau-Larsen during film studies in Denmark marked the inception of Ramz Media in 2005. Ramz is based in Bergen/Norway, but as we are currently working on a new, international project on torture we are now also working from Montreal/Canada.

Morvary Samaré
was born in 1981 in Tehran/Iran, but moved to Sweden with her family as a young child. Growing up in a family of journalists, Morvary is a dedicated human rights promoter, passionate about using audiovisual documentation as a social justice medium. With a clever and creative approach to storytelling, Morvary is the director in Ramz, but also works as a producer and sound-editor. Morvary holds a MA in Political Science from the University of Lund in Sweden, where she also studied International Politics, Economics and Russian Film at the undergraduate level. Before moving on to further film studies at the European Film College in Denmark, she had the privilege of being a visiting student at the London Drama School.

Astrid Schau-Larsen
born in Bergen in 1981, works as photographer and editor in Ramz. She has a great interest in cinema and believes strongly in the power of documentary film as a medium of civic engagement and awareness-raising. During her film studies at the European Film College, Astrid had the chance to shoot a documentary on Greenland and produce a short documentary addressing the situation of refugee claimants in Denmark. These experiences sparked her interest in creating a platform for socially committed film. Astrid also holds a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Bergen, with a double minor in Psychology and Middle Eastern History. As a student, she had the opportunity to spend two semesters in Mexico and India.

Myriam Ariey-Jouglard
born in Montreal, Quebec in 1982, is an active volunteer at RAMZ Media Montreal. After completing her degree in Electrical Engineering at McGill University, Myriam continued on to a Master in International Studies at Laval University. She has worked for several NGOs, amongst others Engineers Without Borders in Cameroon, Rights and Democracy; and the International Bureau for Childrens Rights in Montreal. Myriam has also conducted a field research in Vietnam using a gender and development analysis and is currently finalizing her Master Degree.

Birgitte Heide
born in Senja 1979, is working for Ramz Media Bergen, as an assistant administrator, co-writer and sales manager. She is currently finishing up her medical studies at the University of Bergen. Birgitte has a strong interest in human rights, which has grown out of her many travels around the world. She has worked many years with the AFS Intercultural Programs; an international student organization promoting intercultural understanding and peace. Before embarging on her medical studies, Birgitte got a bachelor degree at the University of Bergen in Anthropology and Science of Religion.
